MG-FARM: The Smart Farm in Cherchel, Algeria

Growing the Future of Agriculture

Welcome to our Smart Farm in El Hamdania, Cherchel (Tipaza), a living example of how clean energy and smart technology can transform farming in Algeria and across the Mediterranean.

At Cherchel, we’ve built a farm of the future: powered by the sun, connected by smart tools, and designed to save water, energy, and money.

Main Features

● Renewable-powered smart microgrid integrating solar PV (17 kW installed) and storage.
● 5 kW solar pumping system for irrigation and water management.
● Energy storage and monitoring system for stable off-grid operation.
● Greenhouse (160 m²) with automated temperature and humidity control.
● 300 m³ geomembrane water basin for optimised irrigation and water storage.
● Control room with digital monitoring, data interface, and IoT sensors for real-time management.

What makes it special?

● Renewable-powered smart microgrid integrating 17 kW solar PV, energy storage, and a monitoring system for stable off-grid operation
● Smart irrigation: Solar pumping for irrigation, water management, and a 300 m³ water basin.
● Greenhouse innovation: A 160 m² climate-controlled space ensures the production of fresh, high-quality crops year-round.
● Digital farming: With IoT and remote control, we manage water and energy with just a few clicks.

Benefits for people & planet

● Stronger harvests with less waste.
● Clean energy instead of grid electricity generated with fossil fuelsl.
● Training hub for farmers, students, and innovators.
● A replicable model for farms across Algeria and North Africa.

Our vision

The Smart MG Farm Cherchel is more than a farm, it’s a showcase of Agriculture 4.0. It proves that with the right mix of renewables, smart storage, and digital tools, farmers can become energy producers, protect natural resources, and secure a better future for their communities
