LEAP-SE Context
LEAP-SE is the direct operational response to the AU-EU commitments. Aligned with the CCSE Roadmap, it supports AU-EU R&I cooperation through joint calls for projects, a community-building platform, and capacity-building activities spanning government, research, academia, the private sector, and civil society. It builds on the experience and partnerships developed in LEAP-RE, particularly its joint call mechanism, while extending the network and ambition of the collaboration.
LEAP-SE (EU Grant Agreement n°101172838) currently comprises 24 partners and 2 associated partners across the EU and AU, coordinated by the French National Research Agency (ANR, France) and co-coordinated by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MESRS, Algeria), with a total budget of approximately €30M, €20M from national funding organisations and €10M from the EU.
AU-EU transnational calls on Sustainable Energy
LEAP-SE launched 2 calls for projects building on the 2 calls launched by LEAP-RE in 2021 and 2022, on 7 thematic areas (1 additional thematic in comparison to LEAP-RE on Green Hydrogen).
Both calls were highly successful, attracting strong interest and participation.
The participation of EU/EU-associated and AU countries reflects the call's strategic aim:
building long-term, balanced partnerships to tackle energy challenges on both continents.
LEAP-SE partners
LEAP-SE brings together 24 partners and 2 associated partners from across the European Union and the African Union, coordinated by ANR (France) and co-coordinated by MESRS (Algeria).
The LEAP-SE project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon Europe Programme Cofund Action under Grant Agreement 101172838.
